Black Star is a sculptural light work that reflects on the tension between the life we are expected to build and the life we secretly long to create.

The work draws from the artist’s own experience of growing up within a structured path: to study architecture, build a stable career, buy a house, and settle into a predictable future. This sense of order is represented by the charred black cubes, arranged like a rigid architectural block — controlled, repetitive, and disciplined.

But from within this structure, a translucent resin form begins to grow and rupture outward. Lit from inside by LED lights, the resin appears frenzied, crystalline, and alive, expressing the part of the self that resists containment: the desire to create, to make art, and to become something beyond expectation.

Black Star becomes a portrait of internal conflict and transformation. It captures the moment when the hidden self begins to break through the structure built around it.
