He Was There and She Was There are sculptural works inspired by the saying “生不带来，死不带去” — we arrive with nothing, and we leave with nothing.

The work reflects on the fleeting nature of human presence. A body once existed here, but is no longer fully visible. What remains is not the body itself, but its trace: a silhouette revealed through layers of acrylic, light, and shadow.

The broken travertine base speaks of time, fragility, and erosion. Above it, transparent acrylic sheets are arranged in sequence, holding the ghostlike outline of a figure within their layers. The body appears only from certain angles, shifting between presence and disappearance as the viewer moves around the work.

Rather than portraying a person directly, He Was Here captures what is left behind — a memory, a mark, a quiet echo. It is a reminder that even after we are gone, something of us continues to remain in the spaces we once occupied.
