Red Forest is a large-scale light installation created for Putrajaya Marriott Hotel in 2024.

Inspired by the hotel’s circular floor patterns and architectural columns, the work transforms the lobby into an immersive landscape of red light, shadow, and structure. Guests are invited to walk through a forest of glowing cylindrical forms, experiencing the work from within rather than only viewing it from a distance.

The red glow carries a dual meaning. It evokes warmth, celebration, and renewal, but also hints at warning, heat, and ecological urgency. In this sense, Red Forest reflects on the fragile beauty of nature in an age of climate change, where forests are increasingly caught between growth, destruction, and survival.

Made with clear acrylic frames, plastic tubes, glass paper, and steel threaded rods, the installation shifts between natural and architectural language. Its vertical forms suggest trees, columns, and rising temperatures — a landscape that is both enchanting and unsettled.

Red Forest turns the hotel lobby into a sanctuary of light, inviting visitors to pause, wander, and reflect on our relationship with nature, transformation, and the environments we are at risk of losing.
